Today we will compare 2 popular well-known locations in Turkey exclusively point by point and without further ado, but first we will tell you the main introductory ones.
Mersin is a large port city in the southeast of Turkey, in fact, a “millionaire”. There are many industrial enterprises in the eastern part.
Alanya is a well-known resort town in the Antalya region. there are almost no industrial enterprises.
1. Airports – In Mersin, the nearest to Adana (60 km), there are no direct flights to the Russian Federation. If we talk about Alanya – 2 airports – international in Antalya (133 km) and in Gazipasa – (40 km), but in the second there are no flights from the Russian Federation
2. Beaches. In Mersin, there are problems with water pollution (microplastic), access to the sea is not available everywhere, many beaches are not equipped with anything at all. Alanya has beaches within the city and they are clean, fully equipped.
3. Public transport. In Mersin, there are mostly minibuses, buses and taxis. In Alanya, there are much more full-fledged buses.
4. Entertainment. There are quite a few water parks and public places in Mersin. Alanya is definitely the leader in this regard, there are several water parks, equipped embankments, housing complexes. In Alanya there is an ancient fortress on a hill with a beautiful view of 2 sides of the city. Tourists can use the funicular or take a taxi. In Mersin, I did not find any interesting historical places for myself.
5. Hotels. Here the leader is also Alania. The number of hotels in Alanya is many times larger, you can check on all known sites.
6. Language. In Alanya, many locals speak Russian and English, and even German, Swedish, Norwegian. It will be difficult in Mersin without knowledge of Turkish
7. The Russian-speaking community – in Alanya it is really larger, there are schools, dentistry, agencies where there are many people who speak Russian
8. Seismic activity. These locations are located in a relatively calm region
9. Real estate. In Alanya, real estate is mostly low-rise. Mersin has predominantly high-rise buildings, which carries the same problems as in Russia
10. Safety. According to compatriots, Alanya is clearly safer here than Mersin in some areas of the city. Personally, I have not found any areas in Alanya that are at least somehow similar to a ghetto and can be dangerous.
11. Prices. For food, they are about the same, but in the winter season in Alanya it is even cheaper, since there are few tourists. But in terms of restaurants and cafes in Alanya, there is still more choice.
12. Weather. Everything is about the same here, the cities are not so far from each other
13. Population. According to our observations, Mersin is mostly inhabited by locals, Syrians, Iraqis… There are quite a lot of citizens of the former USSR and Europeans in Alanya, if we talk about foreign citizens.
14. Shopping centers. In Mersin there is a wonderful shopping center Forum, in Alanya there is a small Alanium and many branded stores throughout the city. If you need something specific – there is a huge Antalya nearby.
I hope this information will be useful to you.
